What is a maker space?

Otley MakerSpace is a place where people
get together to make stuff.

We have skills
We are building an open, friendly and supportive community of makers that is inclusive and welcoming to all.

We have tools
We have sewing machines, 3D printers, power tools, a lathe and a lasercutter and lots more besides. We share our skills by running workshops such as coding, woodwork or stained glass, with individuals and community groups.

We are thrifty
We like making, remaking and fixing stuff, especially at our regular Repair Café. We reuse, repurpose, recycle and upcycle, in practical, creative and ingenious ways.

We have fun
We are inventive, playful and pragmatic, enjoying the challenge of finding out how to make something new and creating something useful or beautiful – or both. We enjoy working at individual projects and getting together to try something new.

If you want to know more about the Otley Maker Space, then the simplest thing is to come along to one of our sessions on Tuesday morning or Wednesday evening. The calendar page shows when the next session is running. Come along, say hello and find out what we are all about.
